On 20-21 January 2020, the city of Gatchina (Leningrad region) hosted a thematic game “Game of Goals” on sustainable tourism development in the international tourism route Via Hanseatica. The route connects Estonia, Latvia and Russia, highlighting the unique sights, history, culture, events and flavours of each country. The route is based on the historic Hansa trade corridor and includes the part from St. Petersburg to Riga through Gatchina, Ivangorod, Tartu and it has been extended towards Rakvere and Viljandi in Estonia and towards Vyborg and Pskov in Russia as Plus regions.
The game brought together the Via Hanseatica members: entrepreneurs, museum employees, experts in the field of cultural tourism development, representatives of the tourism industry and authorities. As part of the event, participants took a sightseeing tour of Gatchina, having visited the Priory Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, Pokrovsky Cathedral, and also the Ingerburgsky recreation center.
The game was held by ICSER Leontief Centre as part of the project ER48 “Extending, strengthening the network and smart marketing of Via Hanseatica” (Via Hanseatica Plus) of the Estonia-Russia CBC Programme 2014-2020.
